Our Creature Comforts Series includes The Rabbit, The Squirrel, The Bee and The Dragonfly (pretty catchy titles..... huh?) and stitched on 28 ct. Lugana (Summer Khaki). Assisi work is used to create the "fuzzy animals" (Rabbit and Squirrel) and the "flying animals" (Bee and Dragonfly) that are slipped into the corners of each design in the series.
The colors are softly muted earth tones using Caron Collection Wildflowers and/or Waterlillies along with coordinating DMC cotton flosses. Mill Hill beads and Treasures are used to embellish all four designs in the series. I kept the special stitches to a minimum with these (just in the borders) for stitchers who do lots of cross stitch and are ready to expand their horizons just a bit with a special stitch or two. |

If you're a bee collector, this may be just what you need to make your swarm complete! Unfortunately, the cover photo on this one just does not do it justice. As with the other designs in this series, the corners spotlight the Bee in all of its summer splendor. There are a "jillion" of them doing what, I guess, bees do best..... flying!! The center squares feature "bee skeps" that hang from trellises wrapped with vines and soft summer flowers. The border uses a variation of the floral eyelet stitch that is surrounded by the busy nectar collectors -- like I said, "jillions" of them. It's a fun one to stitch.
